The Royal Lapis Lazuli necklace & earrings
Few gemstones have as long or as romantic a history as Lapis Lazuli.
One of the earliest known gemstones on earth, they are found in only a few locations around the world, with the finest stones coming from the ancient province of Badakhshan, where they have been mined for more than 6,000 years.
Ancient Egyptians regarded them as a royal stone and valued lapis higher than gold, whilst powdered lapis was believed to be worn as eye shadow by the great Queen Cleopatra.
Small wonder that the intense blue of Lapis Lazuli, with its subtle veins of golden pyrite has long been prized by designers of fine jewellery for creating pieces like this exquisite Royal Lapis Lazuli necklace and matching earrings.
The Royal Lapis Lazuli necklace is created from stones that have been tumbled and polished to perfection and securely hand-knotted between each gemstone.
Measuring a generous 31 inches in length, the necklace slips easily over your head, with no fiddly clasps to bother about, and features more than sixty beads and nuggets varying from 10-24mm in length.
The 9-carat, gold-plated earrings are 2.5cm in length and each feature two perfectly rounded, polished lapis gems with post fittings that secure with butterfly clips.
Each item is presented in its own velveteen pouch.
