Genuine Panama hats have been worn for centuries with their origins going back as far as the 16th Century when the Incas were the first to use the Toquilla plant to produce hats. In England, thanks to their popularity with royalty, the Panama quickly became known as the most fashionable summer hat - and remains so to this day. Our best selling ladies' Panama hat is light, airy and comfortable on warm summer days and is designed to last.
Every one of our hand-made Panama hats is unique; created with a skill that has been passed down from generation to generation.
Available in one size, your Panama can be adjusted for a perfect fit by tightening or loosening the trim on the crown, and has a gentle elastic rim inside to assure comfort.
Made from soft, pliable, yet amazingly strong Toquilla fibre, it is so pliable that it can be stored when travelling by simply rolling up.
The hat is finished with attractive braiding in a choice of claret or navy and the brim can be pushed back or pulled forward as you choose.
Interesting Fact: The hat only became known as the Panama when, over a century ago, the workers involved in the construction of the Panama Canal used the elegant fibre hats as protection against the burning sun.
